Question Concerning Thorn/Spear-Style Arm Angles

Hey everyone, so I have been throwing spear-style for about 3 years and have developed a slightly unorthodox habit. I keep my arm angle very obtuse through the motion thus I don't rely so heavily on the wrist-flick. I know this is hard to describe so I posted a video with a better explanation and here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLl1bN83cXA Here is another video with some more practice. Obviously you won't have to watch the whole video to get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG2sFVTEPw8. So here is the question. In the long run should I keep up what I have been doing or would it be more beneficial to add more wrist-flick. I plan on throwing knives for a very long time and want to get as good as possible. I would love some advice. Thanks

I know next to nothing (ok, nothing) about knifethrowing, but it seems that for practical use -- if there is such a thing -- it would be better to have as compact a motion as possible. If your accuracy is the same, and it looked that way from the vids (at least at short distances), I'd go with compactness every time. Of course, why not practice multiple angles amd get proficient from many different positions? As a hobby, I'd think that would be the most fun and challenging route.

You look good throwing either way to me and it is obvious from the comments on the video that you know how to think about what you are doing and make your own adjustments. Just keep throwing and figuring out for yourself what you are doing and everything will work itself out. Eventually you will find yourself using more or less wrist flick when you need it without having to think about it at all.

ํ You are good thrower. but
cold steel sure balance is to heavy to control by one finger that makes you don't develop your skill try two finger control or
change to pro balance it makes sense.and another thing try more distance than you did it about 6 steps, try at 8or9 step find out the way to throw it.Enjoy

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I am probably over thinking it to much. Oh, and concering libra05 reply, thanks for the suggestion. I do own a pro-balance and it is much easier to throw. I just like the challenge of throwing the front heavy sure balance. As far a controlling it with one finger here is a little story. Several years ago I was using a cold steel bushman and my hand slipped up on the blade severing a tendon and a nerve. After therapy my finger was stronger and a little stiffer than the one on my left hand. All in all I ended up with a lesson well learned and a really cool scar that looks like a lighting bolt on my trigger finger. Oh, and if you want see throwing from farther back you can check out the other link. Thanks.
