I'm wondering if the blade on the emerson CQC-7V is thinner towards the cutting edge then on the regular CQC-7 because its V ground instead of chisel. I tried finding the answer on the net before posting this, but got no results.

I'm thinking 7V vs. regular 7.

That was my conclusion too. I tried to capture any differences in some photos, but it's difficult. From a cursory inspection though, it seems like the chisel-ground 7 is thinner behind the edge than the 7V. I do know that the chiseled 7 slices much better than the 7V in certain situations like push-cutting or carving something.

Thanks for the pics. Yeah that's what I was wondering, now I'm wondering is there any pro to getting the regular version besides saving money? Or should I just opt for the V version?

Also you guys who EDC a CQC-7 why do you and what task do you find it excels at besides defensive use.

V or chisel, its just a matter of preference, although the 7V does have grippier brown G-10 scales. I EDC my CQC-7s for the same reasons I use the other knives that I have. They're sharp, and they cut things.

Although I like the chisel grind, I have v-ground waved 7a because I prefer spear points.

Ahhh, The People's Republic of Illinois. At times I've gotten negative public feedback when I've slowly opened my black tanto 7b w/ serrations, or my Journeyman or my Super Commander. So, I've learned my lesson -- if I want people to leave me alone with their unsolicited comments then I stick with my plain edged spear point 7aw.

When I need to carry a smaller, stonewashed, sheople-friendly plain-edged folder then I reach for my 7a and make a note not to "wave it" in public. Even in my state, I've never had an issue with somebody making a snide comment about my plain stonewashed 7a.
