This question was brought up to me and I was doing some searching about it.

I know my FFBM has a swedge, but was that an option when ordering or was it a different model, I haven't seen that many FFBM's with a swedge other than LE's (I know mine isn't an LE because it's been stripped).

There are no FFBM/FFFBM LE's. These were originally sold through the Company Store exclusively, not a model you could order in your combo of choice through Busse. I'm guessing that yours may have been done for a show like Knob Creek, or sent in to Busse for a requested modification, or done by the previous owner/another knifemaker. :) Ask the previous owner (if there is a previous owner).

Thanks. :)

That's what I was thinking, I can tell it came from Busse like that and was just stripped etc. Have to find out who the orginal owner was I guess to be sure.

Doesn't look like a Busse shop swedge to me but still looks pretty well done.

Yeah, it's perfectly even on both sides and centered perfect.

There are a few on the FS forum with Swedges and they still have the coating on them.

The FFBMs (or FFFBMs) that were sold thru the company store had 4 different clip point treatments...

Flat
Penetrator Tip
Beveled... like yours
and Rounded.

The only ones I kept track of were...

Flat which came in black/black and most of the sage/desert camo G-10

Penetrator tip which was on the green/green linen and a handful of the sage/desert camo G-10

And rounded was on the black/black & red G-10.

Not really sure which the beveled came in combo wise, but I believe it was towards the end of their run.

Nice FFBM & pics BTW.

.

Curious... did the previous owner say that the bevel was original to the blade?

Or did he do it / have it done?

Good info, thanks. :D

Still waiting on confirmation on that, but I am pretty sure it's original. :D

The scales are Black/Red G10 Mags.

Looks like the FBM le bevel. Compared to the false edge swedge that was on some of the 2008 SE's. It looks like a factory done bevel on a stripped cg as seen here:)

Well as far as I know it came from Busse with the Swedge, but I don't know what the blade color was so I guess that will remain a mystery. :)

How do you "Know" it came from Busse that way?

I dont think the swedge is factory because the red/black ffbms didnt have a swedge.

If it has red/black handles then the blade was black. If you dont beleive me, take of the handles and see for yourself.:D;)

Got in touch with the last owner. :)

It was stripped when he got it though.

Yeah it was Black, I took a good look at the end of the slabs and there is just a tiny bit of coating left. Looks like it was stripped just before they sold it.

So that doesnt confirm anything except that it was that way when he(Dan) got it, right?

Either way, factory or not, it was done well, and well, it is a fine blade.:)

That was the way the guy who sold it to Dan got it. :)
