I just purchased a BME from Zvis and all went well and the BM is everything he said and more. In any case, the question is this... I thought that all the BM's were 1/4 inch except for the ZT's which were saber ground 3/16. This one sitting in front of me is a standard BME and it is definitely 7/32 with the crinkle finish, so it appears to be 3/16 if the finish were removed. Is this normal or is this one an oddity?

I have to go pull out my SHE to see if that one is 1/4 or 3/16, but I am pretty sure that one is 1/4.

Yah, that is what I think. I do not remember Busse E's being flat ground out of 3/16 stock, but apparently there is atleast one, MINE!!

Zvis, neener, neener, neener (Cobalt gloating like a little child):D

mines definitely a 1/4. same here to thinking that all 3/16"s got saber grinds on them. if not, then good score! and at such a killer price.... i wish i hadnt spent that grand on gifts this months... and for 3 people no less.... *shakes balled up fists at the sky*

I wonder if there are any more flat ground 3/16 BME's or SHE's. People should start measuring to see. My SHE is definitely 1/4 so it is just standard. Now, I wonder if there are any old straight handled BM's and SH's that may be 3/16, that would be a score.;)

Another Question is:

Since this ting is very rare, should I go ahead and customize it, like I was planning to do or pick another one to do that too? Will it mess with the collector value of it, what do you guys think?

ya what Mike said, Lets trade:D

Well, I can feel the love and how you guys have my best interest at heart. Let me think about that one, hmmm........NO. Probably the lightest BM ever. I should weigh it.

Ok, so what do you think, customize or not?

yeah, go ahead and ruin it, if we all can't have one then why should you?

ditto what mike and dave said:p

Ok, so maybe I won't mess with it for now. But imagine a nice satin finish on it with some green micarta palm swells and a slight false edge:)

stop it, you're giving me a woodie:p

I have the perfect cure for that. you grab one of your favorite INFI's and start licking and caressing it from end to end. give it all the love. You will feel much better. of course you have to be very carefull. I talk with a lisp now.

here is a pic of the spine and cobalts morning after new years eve:p :p

ROTFLMAO!!!

Skunk, I hope that darwin award winner wasn't you.

Thanks for posting the pic of the spine of the BME. I wanted to show how the blade was purposely reduced in size. It appears butted just after the handle. At the handle it is just under 1/4 inch and tapers down to 7/32 which the finish easily makes up the 1/32. I have not seen any of my other blades tapered like this.
