Say about 7"-9" made from VG-10.

The Moran is great, how about a fixed blade spearpoint? Would be great for camping etc!

Good call!

I would also love to see a larger fixed blade MBC knife.

Sal?

Well, I guess most didn' t see the 2 Bob Lum prototypes. One was a bellied medium blade tanto with micarta scales. The other is a whopper of a chopper! Actually I' d estimate that it was about 14" OAL. Nice bellied recurved blade with contoured micarta scales as well. Sure feels balanced in the hand. Sorry, Sal requested no pics til the details were hashed out.

L8r,

I would like to see a 5" drop-point all-around camping/hunting knife in VG-10, 4 mm thick with strong tip and flat ground. Handle not kraton but something harder as in Fallknivens.

Exactly what I was thinking!

I saw the Lums, Nakano, and they were real beauties. However, the prototype FB that really caught my eye was the Perrin Street Bowie. Being a big fan of both Perrin & Spyderco, I can't wait to get my hands on that one.

Sal, I enjoyed seeing you again at the show but just wish we'd had more time to chat. Those crowds Friday were incredible. Well done on all the prototypes!

Nemo, please pass along my compliments to Fred for what is sure to become a very popular collaboration for Spyderco. (BTW, I picked up another La Griffe at the show -- a large w/polished black G10 scales.)

I would love to see a production Perrin! I too picked up a frequent flyer La Griffe and an Emerson one.

Nakano,
Any more details on the large recurve? These visions of a convex ground kukri in vg-10 with micarta handles have been dancing around in my dreams. I thought Fallkniven might execute first but if Spydie was to beat them to it I wouln't complain!

I'm really looking forward to seeing Fred Perrin's Spyderco collaboration. Those Street Bowies he makes look very nice and it seems like they would be good users too.

If you're looking for a large fixed-blade Spyderco though, how about a real Bowie knife?

9" clip point blade, made from VG-10. Polished G-10 handles. Full guard... Wouldn't that be the bomb?!

I have benn thinking about large Spyderco fixed blades ever since I got into SPyders. I like to see a larger (5 inch or so) FB from spyderco, handle material can be the same as with the moran, as long as the excellent moran quality sheath is also there! BTW a Spyderco/Perrin street bowie would be too cool!

My personal secret fantasy Spyderco MBC fixed blade is, a 5-6 inch fully serrated fixed bladed Civilian!! C'mon it's for gardener who already has everything

What do you think?

I too would like to see a Perrin Street Bowie in the Spyderco lineup. I like small, easy-to-carry FBs, and after seeing the Emerson Griffe, I trust Mr. Perrin's designs to be elegant and useful, with the hallmark of his experience stamped upon their design.

Any pics of a Perrin bowie? Or links? If Fred is involved it must be good!

Hat: Since it isn' t a big secret anymore perhaps Sal could help here a bit. As mentioned no pics available.

The handle was nicely contoured and flared towards the rear to the butt, which basically ended in a blunt fashion. The middle section had a slight swell if I recall correctly. The guard was only slight and integral. Good fit for a medium to larger hand. The recurved blade finish was satin but I don' t recall the steel that Sal had mentioned. Most notable though was that the balance was right at the front end of the scales! Not an easy feat for this size fighter IME. Overall shape of this prototype appears close to that of a kukri but with much more graceful lines. That' s all for now that I recall. I' d buy one.

Nakano 2,
If the balance on something of that size (around 14") is where you say it is, I'll buy one also(2 if the handles are black).

I love this new direction Spyderco is exploring. About time they went full blown.

I too can't wait for pics, but I guess theres no sense in pushing Sal. All good things come in their own time.
