If you could please give me a heads up on what exactly is an "Inducted HOG", and how does one go about getting this sought after status? I have been trying to get an answer to this Question for awhile now, and the guys hear are TOP NOTCH, but I am still a little :confused: so I thought I'd ask "THE MAN" himself.

Well I'm sure Jaxx got you covered in his PM, but you don't need Jerry to answer that, lol, the topic's gone around enough lately that we pretty much know the deal. Search is your friend. I'm a new Hog, so it may be useful for you to hear my experience of it, since I payed attention to much of the recent discussion on it. Keep in mind you'll get a few different opinions, depending on whom you ask, but I base my understanding of it mostly on the Boss's words:

Your a Hog when the Boss says you are. This can happen a couple different ways. One of them is that you show up at Blade East and are deemed Hoggish enough to be chosen and inducted in a special ceremony. The other way is that at some point, when you think you qualify, you email Amy with a specially formatted induction request letter, and the Busse crew decides if you're worthy. This seems to happen most right before special Hog-only offerings. What seems to be grounds for qualification? Well, buying at least a few Busse knives, ideally more, having been around a while, showing a strong interest in Busse, and making a good case for your induction.

The Boss has made it clear that there are not different Hog statuses, no e-Hog or i-Hog or such. Hogs inducted online are not a lesser class of Hog. A Hog is a Hog, no matter how you were let in. Some of the old-guard resist that a bit, as well as sharp increases in the number of Hogs, but the Boss thinks the more Hogs the better.

Now, among the brethren, there are some unwritten rules. Honor, kindness, and fun are among them.

I'm personally glad one can be inducted online. It makes sense to me. Not all of us can travel, but that doesn't diminish our interest in INFI. The Hog thing is a good marketing tactic on the part of the Busse crew, and that may be the primary reason it exists, but it also creates fun and brotherhood, which make knife collecting more rewarding.

But as I understand from it I am not inducted HOG and do not really know how to become one, which brings me to a sad realization that HG55 Mill. overrun is unreachable for me. I just truthfully hope that CG model of HG55 will look as good as the Mill. overrun. :(
Well, I hope couple of drink can fix my sadness. :)

Do it the right way! (IMO) Go to one of the shows Busse attends like Blade East and hopefully someday again Blade west and shake the mans hand in an official HOG ceremony!:thumbup:

I very much wish I could, but I that would mean less funds for INFI (ie HOG Slop) and I am trying to get as fat as I Can:D:D:D
one day when I am FAAATT enough I may roll on over to the show.

Don't sweat it non-hogs.

It takes time to become a HOG, don't rush it just to try and get in on a HOG only offering (although it's a perfect reason too).

Just sit back buy INFI, be active here, and your time will come.

Me personally? It will be a while till I become a HOG. Let's recap my particular situation.


Gas+tuition+car insurance= no money left for INFI.

I muster every penny together in efforts for my next Busse.

Mom:hey paul, what do you want for your birthday?
ME: INFI!
.
.
.
Dad: hey paul, what do you want for Christmas.
ME: INFI!

I blow entire paychecks on INFI sometimes. (I try to resist)

I'm not rushing anything, I'm in it for the long run here. Once I am out of school (if I can find a job) I will have mucho INFI money.

So I'm just sittin' back, enjoying the company here, and not fretting about becoming a HOG and holding up the reputation for a good while yet.
