Hey Buck rep,

I just bought a 112 knife from Michael Hoover for his Wyoming Turritella release. The drop point looks strange. Mike says he got the blades from Buck. They are BCCI stamped. I can't upload a picture here but I have uploaded a picture on the BCCI FB page. I am wondering if you can tell me history behind those blades that would explain the unusual profile. Thanks.

Not a Buck rep, but it looks more like an old-style spearpoint blade to me. I'm guessing the artist modified the blade profile to his liking. Several years ago, Buck did a special factory offering 110 with a similar looking blade. Here's some info. on that one: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/110-with-spey-blade.1821834/#post-22239363
Mike said he got the blades from Buck (or maybe he said BCCI) but for sure he said he didn,t change them. He suspects they are from the custom shop. Maybe from some BCCI project that didn't happen.

If it's a 100% factory blade.. Great find! But if a reprofiled 'repair'.. I'm not sure what to say about that.

Dunno... Could it be a blade out of one of those Chinese canoes? The tang stamp doesn't look right.

The other side is the BCCI stmp. It does look a little like Buck canoe. I actually wondered if Buck had prototype blades laying around from that AG Russell project.

Okay, but what BCCI stamp? The BCCI knives have used various stamps or etches over the years for the various club knives, but there isn't a 'BCCI stamp' per se. I don't recall the BCCI ever being involved with the 308 project, I could be wrong, of course. I don't think Buck has never thrown away any steel.

In any event, the mark side stamp does not look like a legitimate Buck tang stamp.

No, I meant maybe BCCI was going to do some project and Buck made some prototype blades and the project fell through. I don't know. BCCI was not involved in the picture I sent of the 308.

If it were me I’d try and get my $$$ back on this one. Especially the price of it.
I definitely don’t like the looks of the blade. I went and looked at them on BCCI’s page and I see another with the same blade. But the way it’s pictured you wouldn’t even notice it unless you know what to look at.
Scales look great though

Since the warranty is obviously voided due to the modifications, I don't see any reason you couldn't send it to Buck and pay $10 for a blade replacement. 😉
