I have a Buck/strider spearpoint that I tried to modify. The modification has not gone too well, and I need new scales. Also, the lock locks up really tight, sometimes it takes both hands to push the lock over. Can I send the knife it for repairs on the lock? And I'm not sure if it's possible, but can you get scales in another color? thanks for any info.....:D

YOu can send the knife to us for repairs to the lock. We can probably replace the scales but that would not be covered under the warrantee. I have heard that G-10 is made in diferent colors but all we have is black.
Take care,

Thanks for the quick response. I'll be sending it back for the lock, and possibly a quote on new scales. Thanks again...Jim

If you want other colors in g-10 go to kovals website, they've got some really pretty blue g-10, and multi-colored g-10. Its easy to work you can sand it to 400 grit and leave it satin, or take it to 400 and use white compound or rouge and polish it to a luster. I frequently buy my supplies from kovals (live down the road) and have seen a pretty blue g-10 for $6.00 a scrap (enough to make two sets of scales for strider, probably with some left over. If you do decide make sure you use a mask when working with it, it does produce fine dust, not as bad as carbon fiber, but still unhealthy, hope this helps.
