Went to a hardware store and passed a Case knife display and saw an Amber Bone Texas Jack, (one of my favorite slipjoints) thought about buying another but didn't. Looking at some others I saw a larger version of the same knife! Looked like amber bone also! I didn't know they made one larger, about a 4" handle. I didn't have time to ask to see it or find out if it was the CV steel or stainless.

Anyone know if this knife is something new or an older model.

Well, the "Texas Jack" was a 2 blade 4" square bolster jack, clip and pen blades. I say "was" because its discontinued now, has been for at least 4-5 years but old stock is always out there.

There is a larger similar knife, the 6375CV.....4-1/4" closed length but with 3 blades and in CV steel and amber bone. A lot of knife knuts in these forums own this knife and all have praise for it.

I recently found 3 6292 4" Texas Jacks from the 90's in a hardware store, but they were Chestnut Bone, bought 1, sorta think I shoulda grabbed them all.

The one I have is 3 1/2" closed. No. 62032. The one I saw was about 4" closed and it might have been chestnut bone? Not sure. Might have to go back in the morning and look for sure and if it's CV I'll definitly pick it up.

I have one of those Case Texas Jacks, CV and Chestnut bone. It was made in 95'. Pretty good knife! I carried mine for a while and then I went back to a CASE XX 5254.

If its a 6375CV in the display, buy it. You will not be disappointed. You also have the advantage of picking through the stock of knives for the one with the best combo of fit and finish.

I went back to that store today. The one in the display was the only one and they couldn't open the display to get the knife!! :( I even told the guy I 'd pay for the extra effort to get the knife but, he still said no.

The handle was more like the amber bone but it was more gray looking. Maybe from age? Wish I could have got it!

Try this one...

and if you like stag, do a search for the 5292 model.
I have some of these and I prefer the ones that are pre 1980 because the refinement is better. The ones made in the early 70's and earlier also had silver liners-which I like alot. If you like the 3 blade version, it is model 6392 for bone, and 5392 for stag again. They also made some in yellow derlin-the 3292 & 3392.
