I took my Sibert Scout out to the work bench and clamped the handle into a vise. Blade was facing me, with the edge down.

Next I picked up one of those thingamabobs....what do you call those....um...pipewrench!...this one's a big un'.

So I picked up the pipewrench and held it like a baseball bat and then ......believe me on this one......I swung for the fences. ~Twang~ went the blade, I hit that S30V blade like I was beatin' a rented mule.

Guess what? It only smiled at me and said "that all you got little fella?"

So I was a little irritated, I swung again, no damage except some scuffs on the blade coating.

Third swing, bingo...the blade had a slight bend in it about 1/3 of the way down from the tip.

Fourth swing, the blade broke and fell to the floor.

Cliff is this normal for an S30V blade? Do you think there's a faulty heat treat involved? Should I mail Shane Sibert and tell him?

Should I maybe have used an aluminum or wood bat or possibly one made from a cinder block, for my testing?

I'm going to reprofile the remainder of the Scout, using a wetstone and do some further testing on the blade. I will update, as my testing schedule permits me.

what were you trying to test- toughness???? Im not sure what your test is trying to simulate

I believe he is poking fun at Cliff Stamp. I might be wrong. If I am, I am sorry. Or he is dead on serious!!

If you really did that to a Scout, I would have to reach through the computer screen and give you a slap:eek:
