Codger or anyone else. I can't find this one on Orvet's list. Was this a genuine USA Schrade pre sawcut delrin on a Taylor licensed Schrade?

The 293 and 294 are both old Schrade Walden USA patterns. The 294 (Serpentine Jack with pen secondary) was 2943 3/4 as a Schrade Cut Co., not sure if the 293 (Trapper with a long spey secondary) was a Cut Co pattern, but it was shown in the 1953 catalog as a 293. The early versions have fancy bolsters and a sabre ground front side on the clip blade. Flat grind on the back. These ones came in bone stag, but both the 293 and 294 can be found as Schrade Walden USA examples with Delrin handles. The 293 was also fairly common after the Walden was dropped from the stamp. I've seen both examples in Schrade Walden USA era with plain bolsters, flat ground blades and jigged bone too, but these are fairly uncommon.

^^ What he said^^^ :)

You will also find these with Sears markings. I have a Craftsman U.S.A. 9481 with staglon covers and the Craftsman crown shield.

Winchester, I don't know the exact specimen you are asking about. The posts by thawk and Codger are accurate, but there are 293 trappers being sold now with SCHRADE WALDEN markings and sort of a worm groove bone on the handles that are made for Taylor in the United States. They are not pre-2004 Schrades. Those plastic packaging tubes that you see in the ads are modern reproductions, as well. There were also many yellow Delrin 293s made after the 2004 bankruptcy by Camillus.

Well I bought it a few hours ago. I didn't think Schrade had any knd of jigging except the sawcut tan brown delrin since the early 60's other than special runs like the Heritage series. I hope I didn't get taken, The seller has a 100% rating but then he may not know. I zoomed on on the tang stamp and it does say Schrade then below NY USA then 293. I've been tryingto cut back on collecting but since I had never seen peach seed jigging on Schrade's delrin, I bought it.

That's a valid knife.

Is one a little more rare than most of the others and like I said it was not on Orvets list. Thanks all.

The Schrade USA Open Stock 293 is on this list of Dale's over on AAPK. The 293 is not rare at all, it was one of the more popular patterns. I have to say though I have not seen a 293 with peachseed jigged Delrin. Just the jigging like I show above.

I believe the Bone Stag handles were replaced by composite materials around 1957 or 1958. Delrin came onto the scene in the early 1960's.
