Question For Cold Steel on Mini Lawman

I like the design of this knife and now that the steel and G-10 have been upgraded I like it even more. But there's one problem with the knife. The clip is mounted such that a lot of knife sticks out of the pocket. Is there a reason for this? Looking at the knife, the clip could be moved up to the edge of the lanyard hole. Or even better, the lanyard hole could be eliminated and the clip could be mounted at the end of the handle (although that might require moving a body screw).
I don't get it.
If anyone knows of aftermarket clip options for this knife, please let me know.

There is another issue, for me, and that is the handle. This could be the perfect EDC knife but the handle has all of those finger ridges/choils. A more useful design would be to flatten out the handle and make it more neutral so it could be used in a variety of holds.

I had to sand around the finger grooves on my AUS8 version to make it comfortable to grip.
Only reason I can imagine for the pocket clip placement is that it makes the knife more comfortable to grip. But I'd love to hear from Cold Steel. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I'd get one if the clip wasn't so crazy low like that. I'd also be sanding off the grooves. I think the whole knife should be redesigned so it's just like the full sized beauty. I'd be all over that!

I agree. With the clip positioned where it is, there seems not to be enough ballast to keep the knife in the pocket. This may not literally be true, but with about 1/3 of the knife sticking out of the pocket, you feel like its going to jump out of there. Compare it to the mini Recon 1, which has the clip all of the way at the end of the knife - where God intended.

I think I knew this at one time but forgot - the original AUS8 Mini Lawman had a different clip. It was asymmetric like is found on many Cold Steel knives where a lefty clip is included. It was mounted right beneath the lanyard hole. So the new clip on the AUS8 version is in a "worse" location than the old. They must have changed it because there was some other internal redesign??? That's my best guess right now.

I have some bad news for those interested in the new XHP Mini Lawman. I picked one up from Amazon. The new scales are thinner and smoother as I expected. What surprised me was that the scales had some movement when cycling the knife. They creaked. The new version feels flimsy and cheap. I returned it.

Most of the the new thinner handle model this year tend to have some slight bent due to the thiness. My new brown lawman and normal hold out 2 both has small gaps on the pin that holds the lock bar. My other 2 2015 lawman(yeah i love lawmans) has minor issue due to the scale not being straight too.

Thinner G10 is ok, but it reaches a point when it will start losing structural stability. For my brown lawman, I can actually press the scale back to the position where it sits flush with the lockbar pin, but it will move back when pressure is released.

Yeah the thinner G-10 is not an upgrade, IMO. I don't mind it on the Hold Out 2 though. I do prefer the smoother texture.

Theoriginalspaceman clip that is popular on many Spyderco models does fit the mini lawman. However you will need to use the original longer screws rather than Casey's screws and you may have trouble getting your driver to fit through the access hole and seat fully in the screw head. Using a wiha T6 I was able to tighten them without stripping.
