Hey guys, I'm considering a move to Colorado and after reading the laws seems like the only way to carry a large Sebenza/Inkosi would be in a pouch attached to your belt? that way is not a concealed weapon since its on the outside and the blade is >3.5''

The problem is that I dislike wearing anything like that.

Do you just risk getting in trouble? (I'm a rule follower) Avoid Denver Area?

I need some local intel please!!!!

Thanks!

Sm Sebenza in Denver. At work (carpenter) I carry >3.5” all the time. If I go grab a beer I take along a smaller cutting companion. I keep a Spyderco Native in the truck for times when I have a larger knife and want to swap it out for a smaller piece for whatever reason.

Pretty much every folder I carry is over 3.5" and I've lived in Colorado my whole life and never once ran into an issue.
I carry a SAK or other small knives in my other pocket as well and use them in public places. For example, I was at a outdoor beer fest a couple weeks ago with tons of people and cops. Had my SMF in one pocket but used my SAK to cut something.
I think common sense rules the day in any situation but I can't imagine an officer walking up to a person and asking them to remove their pocket knife to check the blade length.
Take everything with a grain of salt though because I can't speak to areas such as metro Denver or Boulder. Those people and life philosophies are a lot different than most parts of the state If you know what I mean.

ok! thank you very much guys for the input. I get the idea and makes me feel at ease!!!

My normal carry is a large inkosi, or a shirogorov, both with blades over the limit. I've never been concerned about being hassled. There may be some latitude if the clip and end of the knife are exposed - does that make the knife unconcealed or concealed (glass is half empty/half full). If it comes to the point where there is an argument about the knife is unconcealed because the clip is visible, well, then something went wrong. I've just come to the conclusion that my behavior and demeanor are not going to get me in trouble and I don't worry.

Having said that, I did sell a rather large, all black, 4" folder that was a bit on the 'tactical' side strictly because it was 4" and looked aggressive. A CRK simply does not look aggressive like that, and won't draw the same attention.

Thanks TRfromMT TRfromMT !!! i'm in TX right now and we have a 5.5" limit!!! that is why I was concerned about the more conservative environment of CO, as a good knife aficionado ;-)
Cheers!
