I've recently "encountered" what was thought to be a BA-E but may very well be a NO varient.

I would post a pic but the camera did not survive vacation and a recent encounter with physics.

Specs as compared to the "known" NO in my posession.

NO-- 6 1/8" blade (from front of scales) 1 11/16" wide 1/4" thick
? -- 6" blade (ffos) 1 7/16" wide 1/4" thick

Has black CC, assymetric grind and E- handle.

The more I look at it, the more I think it was a "well loved" and possibly reconditioned NO. The handle matches "perfectly" with the NO and the choil is just about 3/16" shallower and it appears the blade has been ground down....very neatly.

Whaddaya think OINKERS?

Hmmmmm.... You've got me, Bubba. If placed one above the other with the butts on line, are the front guard holes in the same place? If the only difference is blade length and profile, I would agree that it is probably a NO that has been used and sharpened a lot.

A side by side comparison would be nice though.

Les,

Thanks for expending some grey matter!

The handles are almost a perfect match-Talon holes and all-

I've gotta get my new camera back from Dan so I can post a pic. (He's making an "armored" case for this one :p )

BTW, you would be amazed at the societal breakdown we're experiencing because of the relative cold and the snow.

Hey Brian, it's not a Euro model NO is it?

I will have it if it is, thx man... ;)

Brian, you have found one of the counterfit middle eastern imports.

These are illegal to possess under threat of being made to actually drink CBL...

Send it to me so I can put it in with all the other scrap steel I have accumulated. I have a 'license', so it's o.k.

I'm sending a money order for the shipping, so you don't have to suffer any further.

Glad to help.
Mike

(physics eh? Danged gravity....)

Fortunately I have the cold to protect me from Gunderhog. Not to mention HOSTAGES!

Mike, your concern for my well being has touched me deeply...

I'd be inclined at this point to say that gravity sucks, except that it keeps the change in my pockets.

Hey Oku...
When you get the case, please post a pic.
I used a camera to test whether or not gravity really worked.
(Gravity did; camera doesn't.)
Steve

Well guys,

Dan tells me my new case is ready. Not "pretty" but he thinks I might need to run over it with something large to damage the camera.

I'll post pics of both as soon as I can.

Got the camera back! I was however, instructed not to publish the case. Apparrently, it was quite difficult to build. (There are some of my "aint a doin' it again" projects running around as well)

Anyway, here is a pic of my NO (top w/smooth coat) and the questionalble one.

Yup... looks like an NO that was modified or "maintained" to a state of modification.:D

Although... if it was maintained into that configuration, the coat looks to be in pretty pristine condition to have needed that much sharpening.

Kind of what I was thinking Les.

Maybe the "Boss Hog" will drop in and have an insight.

I'm also curious about value if anyone has an idea there.

OMG! Its the elusive and extremely rare 'Badger Jack!' . . .

Send it to me for immediate clensing and detox!

Oku,
My wifes camera suffered irrepairable trauma from a sudden stop incident on a fishing boat deck last summer. To avoid such problems I had fastened a para cord lanyard to my pack(also to avoid turning the camera into an "underwater model") BUUUUUUT my pack was lying on the bench next to me and the lanyard was long enough to reach the deck from the bench... my wife didn't see the irony?!!??

Could be a well loved NO that was sent back to the shop for reconditioning.
Just a thought.

Yup. That's what I'm thinking. It's an NO that somebody used the HELL out of and had refinished. I'd say that's the case because, like mentioned above - it has the rear talon hole, and the coating is in really good condition.

Makes sense to me oinkers!

Regrind and recoat seems to be the most logical conclusion.

The big question now is, what to do with it. Can't use it for sheath making....
