a while back I purchased an endura wave and really like everything about it except the pivot would come loose and develop side to side play after like 2 deployments. I want to love this knife but I can't if this is a typical problem. so since I'm considering giveing the endura another chance and I was wondering if any other endura owners had this problem or if this was just a factory mistake. All my other spydies lock up like a bank vault and I see it odd how I can 70+ on a knife with a bad pivot when I can go spend 40 on a good cold steel

If you have an adjustable pivot, and it sounds like you do, simply back out the pivot screw and apply some blue Loctite to it after you've adjusted it to your liking. Allow it to set for about 24 hours and then enjoy never having to adjust it again, until you want to. It's not a defect or a mistake. Pivot screws come loose on any brand of knife, even Cold Steel. Price point has nothing to do with it.

I've heard all about blue loctite and I would do that if I knew where I put the darn knife :). and I understand completely that all pivots come loose but my Ontario rat 1 only needs to be tightened about once a month and it's good. the problem with the endura was it loosened very quickly and knowing spydercos quality I would expect this to be more of a factory error

Sounds like a lemon to me. I only apply loctite if a knife loosens up persistently and I've never had to on my waved Endura.

I've had to apply Loctite to several knives from various manufacturers, including Spyderco. None of them are lemons and since applying thread locker, none have come undone unless I later decided to adjust them. Having to apply it doesn't make it a lemon; I can't think of too many folding knife manufacturers that don't apply it straight from the factory. They wouldn't spend money to use it on the assembly line with thousands of knives if they didn't think it was necessary.

Waldamir, you really should invest in a small tube of the stuff. It takes literally a tiny drop to secure just about any pivot screw and it's a good idea to apply it to every knife so it stays set. You mentioned having to tighten your RAT folder about once a month. A drop of Loctite would reduce that number to zero. Adjusting the pivot once a month might not be that big of a deal, but I like to dial in the perfect pivot tension and have it just... stay. No more fiddling to get it right where I want it -- at least, until I decide to take the knife apart to clean it.

Im going to agree with allyourblood on this one. Doesnt matter what brand or price point, it just happens. I have a fever and the only cure is more loctite! In a pinch teflon tape will work too. My ram kept loosening up and I put a touch of teflon tape on it and its been good to go since.

Nt all knives are identicle, if they were there would only be one style. Figuring out and understanding what to do with any color Loctite is not difficult, and is only a Google search away. Have you ever bought a piece of furniture or similar with screws that came with a blue paste on them? If you have, then you've seen Blue Loctite first hand. Here is some help for you.

Furthermore, price has little to do with pivot screw tension. Also, pivot tightness is not a marker of quality any more than buying shoes that require you to lace them up yourself rather than being "prelaced".
