Was wondering if you could give me any info on the RSK Mk2, background , history etc. Any chance at all that Kabar will produce these. Out of all the beckers this is by far my favorite and obviously the one i dont have. Thanks for info you can give me on this.

Ritter designed, Camillus prototypes only, a few made, some pictures exist...

interesting design no?

in theory, nobody has it ;) like the BK8, and certain others ;)

very interesting... we need more pictures, i think!!!

I don't think I can post photos here, but here's a few links to help.

A discussion by Doug Ritter on his design of the RSK MkII:
http://pocketsurvivalkit.com/rsk_mk2.htm
I wonder why he tried to get a patent on adjustable balance points with screw-in weights/setscrews. I thought Gerber did that decades ago? Maybe their method was cruder. I've never seen the Gerbers, just read that they did it. Maybe Doug or Ethan will chime in and let us know about the fate of the variable balance patent applied for.

A photo of of Camillus made knives, top to bottom, BK10 Crewman, RSK MKII/BK12 prototype, BK2 Campanion:

Notice the higher grind on the RSK, as well as thinner, slightly longer, pointier blade, and thumb grip compared to the Campanion.

The Bladeforum discussion where I found the link to the above photo, back in 2005 when they thought the RSK MKII/BK12 was imminent:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=349884&page=2

Note to Googlers and other searchers - I have found the prototype called RSK MkII, Mk II, Mk2, Mk 2, etc. There are many spelling permutations possible, and they have probably all been used. Also for BK2, BK 2, BK-12, etc.

marantz,
The links worked fine, but to post pics:
1) get yourself an online photohosting site like photobucket.com
2) upload your photos
3) copy the IMG link into your post.

voila. Hope that helps.

pre-existing .jpg/.png/etc links - just throw some IMG tags around them. the easiest way to see these is to click the "mountain" icon, 3rd from the right of the #... put the full URL to the picture, et voila

I kind of like it, too. Maybe if we talk nice to Ethan and Paul — send them Christmas cards and stuff — then maybe someday...

The update is that it is taking longer than hoped for, as is usual it seems. <~> I guess the best I can say is that anything really worthwhile is worth waiting for. :) Perhaps a bit of a teaser is in order to show that things really are moving along, albeit slowly:
