I've studied fencing for a couple of years at our local Jr. College and I'm beginning to think that our instructor has been blowing smoke for years. He says he is a second generation student of Master Nick Toth's technique. Toth taught at the Air Force Academy until the early 80's. One of my classmates recently attended a USFA coaches college and after demonstrating the guard positions we had been taught the responce from the masters there was,"What the h--l was that?" We have been unable to find anything in print about the "Hungarian" foil guards or Toth's "technique" that we have been taught, and our instructor, when pressed on the issue recently gave one of his signature vague replies.
Does anyone know anything about Toth, or about Hungarian foil guard positions?
