What do you do with that nail file/cleaner tool?
I like everything else about the Alox versions, except that without scissors I don't have much use for a nail file.
A recruit in Alox would be "the way", but alas there is none.
conversely, a Bantam is another option, if not stupendously thin. (I fear Alox Bantams would be awkward in that regard).

But why the cadet?
Do you actually approve of the nail file, or just accept that it's there?

I'll use the tip as small chips driver and to clean under my fingernails, but the nail file I very rarely use when I'm carrying a Vic cadet.

For me I'm not carrying the cadet as an always on me tool like a lot of people do, it's just a pocket knife like any other so I probably don't view it the same way most BF members do.

I don't have a cadet at the moment but have a few with files.
They can be useful, dabbing a bit of glue in a gap, sliding between lid & jar so you can hear that seal pop. If you garden good as a small dibber for seeds. Get that annoying stone out of the sole of your boot. I'm sure there's more but this is what comes to mind with what I've done with the file over the years.

I use the nail file to clean my nails and file them after I trim them. Imagine that! 😁
I use the nail file on a classic because it’s convenient with the scissors and what not. If it had the scissors I would probably own a Cadet already.

I find that scissors aren’t critical when you have a knife or two. It’s easier to use a knife in place of scissors than it is to use a knife in place of a nail file.

I got a Cadet in spite of the file but have since found that I use it all the time (nail file, screwdriver, etc.) I once even used it to clean the contacts on the anti-theft system resistor in my Chevy Lumina ignition key so I could start the car. (Illustration of key included for those not familiar with the system.)

The nail file is probably the most used tool on the Cadet. Not very often am in in the wild needing to open a bottle or can (though having them as a small flathead proves handy) and the blade sees pretty little use because the SAK is my secondary knife at any given time but I find I use the nail file quite a bit; typically on my nails. Cleaning crud out from under them, filing them down if needed, etc.
