Question for Forumites About Store Logos

I will be opening an eBay store dealing in imported blades within the next couple of weeks. All of my blade forum activity so far has been on the HI site, so I was wondering how forumites would feel about a member having a store icon and url included in his signature. My offerings will include no khukuris, so the store would not be in direct competition with HI. I have seen such logos included by other members, and, in some cases, seen them removed later on. Your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.:)

if you are representing any kind of store, you need a dealer membership.

if you are a knifemaker, or in any way selling your knife-related wares (made by you) then you need a knifemaker membership

you already have (and understand) gold-level membership.

So, in short....I don't know what the answer is...(sorry:()

Daniel Said it.

Figure out what BF requires and do it, and you'll have our support and blessings always.

A dealer membership would do it for you Bill. Then you could post anywhere on BF as far as I know with that info and there would be no problem at all.

I would check with Spark and work out the details.

Good luck.

Thanks for your comments folks. The rule concerning dealers is as follows:

Dealer Membership
Allows Dealers to sell on BladeForums.com in the Dealers For Sale Area. Dealers caught selling at other member levels will be banned.

This would seem not to be applicable to my situation, because I have no intention of selling on the forum. My sales activity would be entirely confined the the eBay store. I guess my primary concern has been whether or not forumites might consider such a step to be disloyal to HI. Such a perception would be inaccurate, because I am and will always be a big fan of and customer for HI khuks. Still, accurate or not, negative perceptions can be unpleasant and damaging, and I would hope to avoid any such thing. Thanks munk, I especially appreciate your encouragement.:)

Bill, check with Cougar, Bastid, or one of the other super mods or you can PM Spark, or post in the Service and Support Forum. Spark does read the S&S Forum regularly and will see your question there.
Links to eBay are only permitted under certain conditions and it can be confusing but I'm pretty sure that an eBay store listing wouldn't be permitted in a signature box. Best to ask the more knowledgable though.;)

Aside from meeting all the Bladeforum requirements, subtlety and simplicity are advised. Don't make a huge logo, garish tag, etc. I don't mind adverts in sigs as long as they're tasteful. But when I see a huge full-size banner the annoyance starts to kick in.

(As an example of 'tasteful' you need look no further than Daniel Koster's sig )

my $0.02.

Point well taken kazeryu. Thanks. I have seen Daniel's signature and agree with your characterization. What I had in mind would be no larger than an avatar. Meanwhile, I posted the question to blade forum and should get some rule clarification shortly. Will pass on what I learn.

Here is the response I got from Cougar Allen:

Yes, as a Gold Member you can put a small link to your website in your sig. No enormous banners, please.

By the way, if you upgrade to a Platinum Membership next time you can give yourself a custom user title, "Acme Knives" or whatever.

Will follow up shortly with a logo that is not necessarily final. Store is still under construction and, as of today, stock has not yet arrived.:) :) :)

Okay, obviously the logo and url made it. I believe that ordinary etiquette requires that there be no discussion of the store itself or the products offered by the store in the HI Forum. You can contact me through the store url if additional information is desired. Thanks to all for bearing with me while I got this issue worked out.:)
