Question for Jazzman or others, how to remove speedsafe from chive

In a review of the Chive, Jazzman mentioned that he removed the SpeedSafe mechanism from his Kershaw Ken Onion Chive. Jazzman (or anyone else knowledgeable), how do you remove the SpeedSafe? I am mechanically inclined and tinker with all kinds of firearms, but I am a newbie with folding knives and hesitant to just take it apart in case there are any tricks I am unfamiliar with. Thanks!

It has some kind of spring in it. I don't know the details because I don't own one. (I'm not really incline to own one because I don't want to replace the springs when it breaks)
Make sure you wear protective eyeware.
