First,
Thanks for the great forum. I've learned alot in a short time thanks to you guys and the others on this sight.
Second,
When you guys originally decided to bring out your knives was there a first design and then others followed or did you have a "set" already conceived?
If so, what was your first design parameters?(blade length in particular)
My thoughts were, your first knife would probably be the "if I only had one knife" knife.
Is that correct or was a set of knives envisioned from the beginning? Or maybe both?
If there was an original parameter, which knife was the "if I only had one"
My personal favorite is the RC6 type although I can see good arguements for the 3 and 4 also.
If this has been covered before, sorry. I went through the other threads and couldn't find anything.(damn there's alot of threads!)
Third,
I'm going with a Condor Machete and I noticed you always mention the 18" Latin style.
What are the advantages of the Latin style over the Outback style. The Outback looks like a bruiser.
Also, is there an advantage of 18" over 20"?

Just trying to find out how great minds think. (about knives, you can keep that other perverted sh*t to yourself!:D)
Anyone else who wants to chime in please do.

Thanks,
Matt

Our history is pretty well documented in numerous postings on BFs, as well as here: http://www.ratcutlery.com/history.htm

As for the machetes, not trying to be short and blunt but the best way I know to be is short and blunt: Having used a lot of different machetes, the Latin style just works the best. I like shorter machetes simply because they're easier to carry in the jungle and will do just as good if they are sharp and the user knows how to cut with them.

Appreciate you being here. I have no clue as to what you are talking about when you say the other perverted stuff. All the threads here seem to be upstanding and in good character.

I posted this answer in Don's machete thread:

If you use a machete as much as we do in the jungle, you will get tired of the weight-forward, nose heavy Outback compared to the better balanced and faster Latin machete. I imagine if you are going to be chopping a lot then the Outback might serve you better, but I haven't found anything I can't chop with a Latin machete.

Interesting... people claiming pervert status. I think I need a good stiff drink.
