I mananged to catch your segment on the Travel Channel and I noticed that yo had what looks like a Spydie Military in a sheath on you pack? Who makes a sheath like that? How would you rate it's utility?
Thanks

As far as utility goes, I like this type of carry in bush much better than pocket carry. It keeps it within easy reach, less likely to snag and lose in heavy undergrowth, and when you extract it from the sheath it automatically opens, plus you dont have the bulk and length of a fixed blade riding on your shoulder strap. Mike Sastre's sheaths are top notch and he's making them for a lot of different models.

If you read my survival column in March 2000 issue of Tactical Knives magazine, we discuss this type of carry for folders.

Hi Grantdouglas,

GET ONE ! from Mike Sastre you won't regret it.
I have been carrying my Military in Mike's Carbon Fiber print concealex neck sheath for months now and I carry it almost always even when wearing a business suit, it just dangles from my neck under my dress shirt and it's a flat package weighing almost nothing and my Tie covers up any hint of a slight bump.

I advise you however to pull the outer core of a 550 parachute cord over the ball brealk chain and by heating the ends of the outercore melting them around the ball closed to the closure snapshackel.

It makes carying the Military even better and I even stepped into the shower a week ago and halfway through I discovered that I still had the military around my neck.
Some would call it absendmindness (like the word spelled it wrong I think

) but I just don't notice the Military/Satre neck sheath anymore

Give Mike my greetings
