Hey Jeff, I have a quick question for you. My wife has decided I am allowed to take your Jungle training course in Peru. It won't be the course in May as my job and finances won't allow it right now but it will be the next course. The question I have is, which large blade should I get? the Junglas or the lite machete? I will be taking my ESEE 6 but your training page says I will need a machete as well. Just wondering which of the two is the best tool for the course?

Thanks

Rob

It appears you already quoted Jeff in your own post.

"but your training page says I will need a machete as well".

I think his answer will be something like this:

" Screw packing a machete, just buy one for $10 when you get there."

Cool man! You'll have to share your secrets on how exactly you convinced your wife :). From a fellow Albertan I am very jealous ;). Please take Lots of pictures!!!

Sure you can get through the course with a Machete as the equipment list suggests, but you would be king dingaling in the jungle if you were sporting the Junglas. :)

I think everyone here (and yourself) have already answered your question ;)

Condor Eco-Lite machete, I love mine.

I've never been to the jungle, but from what I hear, the less "stuff" you bring the better. And you've got to carry what you bring. Do you need the 6 if you've got a 18" machete? An ESEE3 (or similar sized blade, even a Mora), a pocket knife/SAK along with the machete should be all you need.

You'll be better off if you just wait and buy your machete in country when you land.

The locals are going to have the tools best served for the locale IMO.

Must be a double barrel shotgunner11:D

I'll be there in 2012, can't wait. Tropical jungle, bugs, snakes, and squattin' in the bush for a deuce. Sounds like a great vacation to me.

Cya there.

Moose is a true conservationist. He believes in “take only pictures, leave only footprints” so he generally craps in his hat and carries it out with him.

And he's efficient too. He can take a crap without stopping when he's wearing that kilt.

Hey, I can run faster with my kilt, than you can with your pants down. :D
