Hi John, here I am sitting back 12000 miles away thinking that you are one of Emersons biggest fans when low and behold I see your name all over Microtech posts!!
Say it aint so John.

Those LCC's look ok but seem a bit small. I thought of getting one, but then I said to myself "will it replace the Commander?" Answer "nope". These Commanders are bad news for the knife economy worldwide. At the moment I can't see anything replacing it.

Cheers

Pete

You caught me.

Knew I should have used an alias over there!

I will say that I am absolutely one of Ernie biggest fans . . . Especially the Commander. I honestly don't think there is a better Fighting/Hard Use knife made today (unless you count the E1S-M).

At this years Blade Show I got the opportunity to actually meet and talk with Ernie, Derek and Mary and I can't tell you enough about what "Class" people they truly are. They honestly have a fan for life.

Also at the Blade Show, I actually got to put my hands on the Prototypes for the Lightfoot/Microtech collaboration, the LCC. This is an awesome and beautiful "Tactical". If they only offered the manual version, I'd have to have a couple. The Double Action, Bolster Release Auto is incredible. Absolutely a must have for any knife enthusiast.

Having said all this, the LCC will not replace my Commanders. I'll tell you how strongly I feel about this, I went to MT last month and had a long talk with Tony and Al about all things sharp. The conversation eventually turned to the Commander in my pocket and I flat out told Tony that until he made a knife that opened as fast as the Commander, one would always be in my pocket.

I'm striving to get one of every Commander and one of every LCC.

John

G'day John, I agree with you on the Commander, it's a beauty. Some of the other guys here at work have ordered a couple after seeing mine. The LCC looks like a nice knife, very well made. Microtech have the best quality control bar none. I wish the LCC was a bit larger. Even the Commander's handle is a tad small for my hands.

You guys in the States don't know how good you got it when it comes to knives. The latest models take a good 12 months to hit the stores here and they are WAY overpriced. Thank God for online shopping.

I wish I had access to some the knife shows that you guys attend. I've told my wife that one day we'll get to the USA and visit Atlanta in June. She said "Whats in Atlanta"? I said " about 300 tables loaded to the hilt with fine knives of all descriptions".She just gave me that weird look of hers.
I would love to catch up with some of you guys and Emerson and some other makers at these shows, It would be the only way for me to get an Emerson custom at a half reasonable price.

Glad to see the Commander still has a home.

Pete

If you go make it here for a Blade Show, let me know.

I realize that this is an Emerson Forum, but since we are discussing Lightfoot knives, since you can no longer order an Emerson custom, individuals should investigate Lightfoot customs(lightfootknives.com). I just recieved a 458 Magnum carbon fiber handle,SS damascus Millenium blade and bolsters with gold colored screws. Absolutely first rate in every detail. I will try to get an electronic image to post.
