Does the concealed carry permit extend to knives or can a separate permit for knife carry be obtained?

It does not apply to knives and one cannot be gotten for knives unfortunately. Also it is not a concealed carry permit. The DA has told us that with the wording in the statute open carry is OK. It does not contain the language "conceal" anywhere in it. I think a smart person would conceal it though.

Huh? I'm confused. So you're just getting a permit to carry? Period? If it isn't a permit to carry concealed, then aren't you breaking the law if you do conceal?

The way the Tennessee carry law reads, you may carry the firearm concealed or not, as long as you have a permit.

If you do not have a permit you are possessing a weapon "with the intent to go armed" it doesn't matter if it is concelaed or not.

Our knife law says that blades over 4" are weapons and automatics may only be carried by LEO's and military in performance of their duties.

In your first post you indicated the law permitted "open" not "concealed" carry. In your second post you indicated you may carry concealed or not as long as you had a permit. I need to get unscrewed here

OK, I think I get it. It is a "Carry Permit" period. It is not called a "Concealed Carry Permit." Right?

Ok I guess my wording was confusing. It is not a concealed carry permit. It is a carry permit. It does not mention concealed. It doesn't say you have to have it concealed and it doesn't say that you cant. It just says you can carry. So you can carry it concealed or not.

And since that is the case, I would think that carrying concealed would be the prudent thing to do.
Sheeple see a weapon carried in the open and, in their ignorance, immediately draw unwanted attention to you in the form of a 911 call to the local cop shop to complain about a crazed gunman carrying in plain sight. The police HAVE to investigate a complaint like that.

And, who wants nosey Sheeple and or police in their business anyway? Better safe then sorry IMHO.

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid!

You are right. I would be sure and have it concealed. Walking around with a weapon in plain view is asking for trouble. I think that people have an inherent right to protect themselves. If more decent people carried we would have less problems. Since the carry permit came into effect, I have only had trouble with one person that had a permit. He decided he wanted to form a posse and apprehend a criminal that had stolen some property about a month earlier.

Baaah Baaaah Sheeple, so are you a sheep dog or a wolf?
