Hi Michelle,

In the thread on the Claypso Jr. Lightweight I asked Sal about the chances of the burgundy concept model going into production. His reply was:
Clay - Not my Yob. It's a full time job just getting to first article. Michelle's call.
So Michelle

...what about it? I know there are quite a few people here who would love to see this classy little knife in another colour.

BTW Sal, in Australia we'd call that a flick pass

What does YOB mean? Let me guess, it is a feeble attempt to "Yiddishize" the English language.
(Editing this message- Sorry about the comment, I didn't intend it to sound as serious as it does. Apologies!I was hearing J Seinfeld saying this as I read it.)

Cool off, JK. Sal might just have hit the "Y" key instead of "J". He really has been asking for a spellcheck!

JK - it's an American slang that came out of "asking a union worker to do something that was not in his job description". Sorry for the confusing colloquialism.

Sorry guys, I should not have went there. I was thinking of Seinfeld's "Yadda" (?). He's hilarious.

Clay,

Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond. I don't get the opportunity to get on the forum everyday.

As for the Burgundy Calypso Jr., currently plans are to produce a black version only in PlainEdge and SpyderEdge. Although the other was quite intriguing the overall response by customers was not good enough to warrant a batch. Once we get our first production of the C52 ltwt.in,(they are expected in August). We will have the ability to observe market response and at that time may consider adding variations. But this wouldn't be until 2000.

Michelle,

Thanks for replying although it was not quite the answer I was looking for
smile.gif
. Now you've left me with a problem, do I buy one of the first batch or hold off in the hope that there may be a coloured version later? And then there's the BF Matriarch and the Merlin also on my wish list....too many knives not enough money.

BTW any news on the progress of the Chinese folder, that is still number one on my list.

It was definitely not the answer I was looking for.

As I said in the other thread, I might buy one in black, but I would almost certainly buy 3 or 4 (or more) in burgundy or forest green. I really like my Calypso Jr in black Micarta, and would like to have a blade in VG10 or 440V, but probably not at the expense of downgrading the handle esthetics. A molded "plastic" handle would be a lot more attractive if it weren't black like every other handle under the sun.

Hey Michelle, not that I'm trying to twist your arm or anything (much

), but you should have a look at the comments on the burgundy Calypso Jr. Prototype.

I'm off for a week's skiing shortly so you won't have me bugging you for a while

, but I'll be back

Clay,

Of course, I have took a look at the comments regarding the lightweight Calypso Jr. and some of our staff even have the same opinions. As I said I will keep this in mind in our planning and will even discuss it one more time with our Purchasing Manager.

Keep in mind, some have said that one can never have to many knives!

Well Michelle, how about it?

Have the sales of the Calypso Jr. been good enough to justify doing a run with coloured scales? No don't tell me, it's too soon to say

. Ah well, we live in hope

yeah, if I have to buy a black calypso jr to raise sales a teensy bit, then I guess my arm could be twisted, especially since it has the ultra-groovy gold spydie on the clip.

Some people look at handle ergonomics, steel types, etc... i'm just interested in the clip
