Question for owners of the William Henry E10

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, but I didn't see a William Henry forum.

I recently bought an E10. In the closed position, the blade moves nearly 1/8". This is before it actually begins opening. When I got the knife, the seller had accidentally sent me the wrong E10 and I exchanged it. The first E10 didn't have this movement. Heck, I have thousands invested in folding knives and none of them do this....

I sent the knife to William Henry because I figured it was a defect, but they're telling me that as long as it doesn't open by itself and there's no movement in the open position (there isn't) then it is performing to spec. For a knife that's touted as 'superlative' I find that rather strange. Not to mention, William Henry makes a big deal about their close tolerances, which apparently this knife lacks.

So, if anyone out there has an E10, my question is, does yours have blade play in the closed position?

I'm not trying to be a crybaby here, but heck, for $300, I guess I expected.a little more.

I would not expect this in such an expensive knife. The only knife that I have that has blade wobble when closed is an AG Russell lockback. It is an inexpensive knife, but I am not happy with this. The knife also locks up tight when open, and the finish is not so good.
I would want more in a knife that cost $300.

Well, to William Henry's credit, they have offered to refund my money for the knife. I accepted. I'd still like to hear from any E10 owners.

I also have an E6, and I do have to say that it is a very well built, small gents folder.

I don't have an A. G. Russell knife, but this is the second time I've seen you jump right in to satisfy a customer. I'm going to have to order one just based on your care and concern :)

No kidding!! I was thoroughly impressed by this.

BTW, to anyone who's reading this and thinking about getting a William Henry, do it. I think I just got a bad one and it happens with every brand. Their customer service is as good as it gets. I didn't even buy it directly from them, but they still offered my money back and that says a lot.

I also have many William Henrys and have found their customer service to be second to none although I've yet to have a knife needing repair or found one to be defective. A company that is putting out high quality products imo.
Would like to add that I'm always looking to buy William Henrys especially the t10 model and other limited editions. email me if you have some to sell.

I recently purchased a E6-1 from them and was amazed by the quality. However on removing the pocket clip to move it to the other side I striped on of the screw heads. I called up WH the next day and asked for a replacement screw. Sent me spare screws and a pocket clip at no charge. I would go as far as to say their customer service in my book is even better than the high quality of their knives.

I just had a William Henry returned from service. They have the best warranty I've ever experienced. I bought a B15 from a dealer that listed the knife as mint condition only to find out that it was probably used and had a ton of side to side blade play in the open position. I got in touch with a service rep. and he offered to check out the knife for me even though he told me that the dealer that I bought the knife from was not an authorized dealer. Well, he fixed the knife and sent it back in a week's time, and now it locks up perfectly.

But to answer your question although I own a different model than yours, I can force the blade to touch either side of the handle scale in the closed position. The gap between the handle scales is less than 1/8" though. I assume that the blade play that you're referring to is without you forcing the blade?

I own many WH's (too many) and have never had a single problem, so I have yet to test their customer service. But it has a great reputation. Their knives are superb, and I own Chris Reeve and Rick Hinderers, so I know good knives.
