How did you make the anvil in this picture? I have seen a couple like this and am very curious as to how they are made. If you don't mind me asking. of course.

The rule of thumb for best use is minimum 20x's the weight of the hammer for the anvil.

20x 4 pound hammer is 80 pounds (not too heavy compared to conventional blacksmithing anvils which may have used bigger hammers)

That is a 6X6X24" block of 4140, IIRc. Just set it in a bucket and fill around iy with either Quickcrete or gravel.
 
It's a 4x4x14 block of 1045... face hardened. It was buried in a chicken feeder for a while. It has gragimatated to a 6"dia thickwalled tube and is permanently cemented in. The whole thing weight about 150Lbs now. I really like it.
