Hey ron any problems with your flash2 knife and canada customs yet ? we don't get amny sog folders in the stores up here that I have seen and more then likely have to order direct.

are thier any canadian stores that sog deals with more directly then others ? I see you come up to Canada a bit and since I grew up In Victoria you might recommend some lower mainland/Island stores.

I currently live in fort st. john (1600kms NORTH of vancouver) but if your up in the arctic here pop on by eh.... ;)

Hi Westicle,

Thanks for coming to visit the SOG Forum. I'm not aware of any specific problems The Flash Series have with Canadian customs, so you should be just fine.

The Flash Series knives are very impressive and have been gaining a lot of attention. I've been drooling over the soon-to-be-released aluminum handled version. The models I have on order has glossy black TiNi blades (partially serrated) with anodized "platinum" gray colored aluminum handles. Centered on the handle will be our "SOG" logo...but it will be different than anything we've done before! The logo is three dimensional in that our "SOG Specialty Knives" is encased deep in a clear laminate casing. The effect is very classy on an already upscale knife. This model is about 4-6 weeks away (I hope!). It just might be replacing my very long-term EDC Night Vision.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. :)

Thanks Ron, always good to know if any problems have surfaced with the customs people. can't have guns (for CCW) so have to buy quality knives. Found a dealer in Canada who will import one for me and also bought a seal 2000 knife. :D :D

If you have never seen or held a SOG Seal 2000, you are going to be in for a real treat when you receive it, as it is a nice, SOLID knife, with excellent balance. You might also look into getting its' BIG brother, the Tigershark, as THAT knife is totally amazing!.:).

You're going to talk me into one of those beasts yet!!!:D

Bobby B,

WHAT???...You DON'T have a SOG Tigershark yet??? (I guess you've never held one, 'eh?...'Cause if you've ever held one, you'd OWN one!.:).).

You're on the money! It's a character flaw, I know, NOT owning one...
I have an S1, S2, S3, S4, now I need an S5 Tigershark.

A carbon steel one would be nice, maybe the Midnite Tiger!?!:eek: :cool: :D

What the heck is an S1, S2, S3, S4?

The current Tigershark is AUS-6 (aka 440A sometimes in SOG catalogs), and that's a plenty good enough steel for me. To be honest, I don't really care for "carbon steels" since they can rust fairly easily...(Yah, I know that "stainless" steels have SOME carbon in 'em...).

Bowie = S1
Trident = S2
Team Leader:D =S3
Tomcat = S4
Tigershark = S5

SOG part #s :cool:

Edited for stupidity...apparently I need a moderator to save me from myself...:P

Oh I plan on grtting a tigershark and a seal pup as funds allow, I like getting knives in sets so you get the right knife for the right job.

after that I want to get some of the higher end knives.

After the Tigershark and the Seal Pup, the "higher-end" SOG knife that you NEED is the Trident...That IS my FAVORITE knife, SOG or otherwise!.:).

The Trident is indeed a beautiful knife! It was the start of a slippery slope for me (more of a Cliff really :eek: )...
SOGman99 have you played with one of the "leather SOGs"?

bobby B.... I hate you man, to make amends to me mail me the three sog's for evaluation and proper storage.

Not yet, but I hope to get a hold of a SOG Bowie (or a Recon Bowie) one of these days...:).

Fellas: Good to see you all play nice. I just wanted to point out to all out there that besides the Midnight Tiger in Sk5, there were two other models in deep, deep gun blue. They were the Nitetech and Recon Government. If you fellas ever saw this threesome togather, you would think that you were in SOG-K heaven, they are afterall discontinued models.

Krizzard, out.

Bobby B,

The 3 in the picture must be (top to bottom) Bowie, Recon Bowie, and Scuba/Demo? (If I'm correct, do I get my pick of 1 of the 3 as my prize?.:D.:D)

Ron....

WHAT!!!

" It just might be replacing my very long-term EDC Night Vision. "

Thats insane...

The Night Vison is one of the nicest folders I've seen,,,

It is a Frigging fantastic knife..
That would be a Real shame!!!!

The only thing I would suggest doing a little different on the NV is the thumb stud.. I could use an up-sizing just a bit...Little on the smallish side...

Other than that its a Great blade..As solisd as anything I've handled..

ttyle

Eric...

hey ron, any word on when the new flash's will be coming out with the aluminium handles ? I would love one in Carbon Fibre if the SOG gods are listening.

I hate to be hated:( , the SOGs will go out Monday along with the check in the mail;) , Ohh, except for:

SOGman99 is correct, so one must go to him. Since I hate to break up the set, I guess I'll keep them!:rolleyes: :D :cool:

I love my NightVision - more once I get all the pieces back from Bodycote. I have the blade, it's rainbow BC coated, now I am waiting for the liners (I kind of "jeweled" them...) in rainbow TiOx, and the clip. I will post it with my Ti BC coated Vision. They are solid knives!

The aluminum Flash (or so I heard) will be shipping in 4-6 weeks... Carbon fiber handles (or half and half!) would be VERY cool!:cool:
