Hi Sal,

I asked this question on the Spydercoforum but didn't get much replies, so I decided to try it on this forum.

I like my Ti ATR/SE very much, but I have one question about it,
Why are the serrations on this S30V blade so much smaller and rounder than on my other S30V blades(Mili, Para and Dodo) .

Was there a meaning for this? It looks like you'll sharpen away those serrations sooner than the others.

Besides that, a very great knife. I carry and use it often;) .

I was just curious about those serrations.

Many thanks in advance.

The ATR had its own dedicated wheel for serrations. I'd have to see your particular knife to be able to answer. Maybe in Amsterdam?

Thanks very much Sal for replying:cool: . I'll be sure to bring the knife when I go to Amsterdam;) .

However, I posted a picture on the Spyderforum of my Mili and Ti ATR not long ago. IIRC it was called "Ti ATR Serrations question", to which Wouter said he experienced the same while handling various models during his visit to Golden.

Is the Ti ATR hollow-ground? That would make a different serration shape than a flat-ground blade.

I believe most ATR's are ground flat/saber flat. I did not handle any serrated ATR's in Golden, since they were by then all sold out. However, I did handle a few at a friend's house and they -as well as any online pic- show more rounded serrations than other S30V models. I figured that these rounder serrations resist chipping much more, but I'm also curious to learn the rationale behind the serration design on the ATR.
