Question for Sal or dealers about Chinook

Since Sal says the Chinook is on the shelves and should be shipping in about a week, which dealers are getting them? For once, I would like to be toward the front of the line when a new knife comes out.

Dirk - I don't know which, if any dealers have ordered Chinooks. Not my job.

IMO they're good. That is my job.

Then we begin refinements, little improvements as we learn more about the "animal" over the years.

At this time, the Chinook is, IMO the strongest, most reliable, best performing lock back folder ever made.

Designed by one very familiar with knives. Engineered and built by Spyderco. Deep Hollow ground CPM-440V Bowie style blade (full belly), 14mm hole (same as Military). Spyderco MBC lock strength rating. Double stainless liners. G-10 scales. Very small latch release opening. And forever to get out, it seems.

I guess I'm partial?

I played with the prototype at Blade Show and I can honestly tell you that this is one HEAVY DUTY folder. I am defintely getting one for myself.

Sal, exactly the reasons I want one and don't want to wait. I have been looking forward to this knife since I saw the first picture. What will be MSRP?

Want one, must have one, but where can I buy one?

According to the wholesale pricing I got the MSRP will be $159.95. I was impressed by the reports and descriptions on the knife and ordered them sight unseen. (I've since received a flyer and believe I made the right move.)

Don't know when I'm getting them. Don't know which variation (plain or P/S) will come in first. I just know they are coming.....eventually.

I truly believe they'll be worth the wait.

I picked my Chinook (#252 - THANKS Christine!!) up at sfo. The full retail is/was $159.95. They had 3 or 4 and all have been sold. All were plain edge, I was told.

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

I've got two. Both plain edge and I really like them. I got my first from beck's Cutlery. It was number 49v. I don't remember the number on the 2nd. It is much higher and the one I am carrying. I am working on making a cross draw sheath for it. I'm also going to see if I can find someone to move the clip so I can have it as tip up carry as well. I think I need a third one. The 3rd one I am going to see if I can't have it dressed up some with new handle material and file work. I dare say I like the Chinook more than the Civilian.

Wow,

At first I looked at the Chinook and thought, Ugh...

But like a saprophite, it has grown on me....

And now I read that it will have a thumb hole as big as the Military's?

Wahoooooooooooooo......
