Question for Sal: total year production

I was wondering how many knives Spyderco sells in an average year and if this varies a lot.
And what is the top three of most popular Spyderco knives?

Hi Shiden-Kaj, I can tell you that in general our top models are Endura, Delica, Rescue, Police, Sharpmaker, Native, Military and Dragonfly for an idea.

Can't say how many, sorry. I can say that we are a small company. 35 emloyees.

Sal, is that due to our recent recession, or was Spyderco larger at one time? What was the total number of employees you had at any one time?

Spyderco has always been a small, family-owned company.

Don't forget, that except for US production, Spyderco is a contract shop. All non-US knives are made by contract factories, not Spyderco-owned facilities. So Spyderco may be 35 people, but they are backed by numerous contractor employees.

Hi guys. Interesting questions. Spyderco was at its largest in 1999 at about 65 employees. Things got a little crazy so we decided to get more managable and so we slowly downsized. We may go up slightly in the next year in a few areas, but I prefer the smaller "family".
