The Spyderco Civilian is directed at law enforcement personal only. So why did spyderco name it "Civilian"?
To me that sounds a little misleading as in the knife is intended for Civilians and not Law enforcement Personal.

I would also Like to say I respect Spydercos responsible markiting approach to there knifes.

Hi Bors. Sorry for the delay, been "on the road".

The Civilian is intended for "responsibile people" in general, primarily for Law enforcement as a possible "last ditch defensive weapon".

I felt that names that implied "weapon" or "damage" in general was not responsible. The name is the designation for the model, and it did need a name. It is not promoted to the general public, the name, I felt was better than a number. It was also a kind of "tongue in cheek" name to denote the "civilizing" of an uncivilized person.
