Hello Sal. I want to start off by saying the Sage 1&2 are modern masterpieces of production knives. They are truly amazing in every way. My concern is that I want to make sure I have a couple of eachby the time they're discontinued. I understand if you can't answer the questions I'm about to ask because of business reasons but here they are. Will the Sage 1&2 be permanent members of the lineup until further notice? If not do you have some kind of rough estimate of how long I they will be produced? Are there knives other than the Sage series that will be made by the same folks in Tawain? Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken the Gayle Bradley and Bob T Slipit are also made at the same factory. Both of which are also extremely nice knives. Before seeing them I NEVER would have imagined that the taiwanese would be making these knives with such superior fit and finish to so many american companies and at such a reasonable price. Its unbelievably awesome!

F&F on my Bob T and Sage II were top notch. I couldn't find a fault with either of them.

Hope Sal answers this, I too would like a back up Sage 2. I just LOVE that knife.

+'s for all the Ti used in the Spyderco line up.

It's no surprise to me that the Taiwan manufactured Spyderco's are so well made.
I know that the CRKT knives I've had made there where always impressive as to fit and finish. Even if the blade steel wasn't the greatest. So, they can turn out well made knives.

Well, unless something has changed, Sal has stated in the past that the "plan" for the Sage series is to keep each individual version in the lineup as long as sales justify it staying. At best, both the Sage I and Sage II could stay in production as long as the Police has. At the very least, they "should" be in the lineup until at least this November, as that's when the "retirement" decisions are normally made.

I believe the CHOKWE is made in the same factory also. The CAT and Chicago are made in a different factory, but still in Taiwan. The Bushcraft is made in Taiwan also, but I don't which factory made it.

Looks feminine to me. But I love that color!

I never thought it looked feminine but everyone has their own perceptions. I mainly got the Fizz pit on it for added grip but if the ano comes off and I have Matt refurb it it will be all blue.

It looks like a really neat Sage to me, the beads/Cubic Zirconium looks like jewelry to me. But this is very interesting, as it's done on Titanium! Where was this sent towards for customization? Thanks :cool:

They're not beads they're actually small holes drilled in the Titanium surface and the Titanium shines. They provide a pretty good grip too. I sent it to custom knifemaker Matt Cuchiarra.

LOL....I wondered what xtestifyx was talking about with the feminine comment but now I realize that he probably thought it had jewels set into the scales.

I think the knife looks fantastic, I have a Benchmade Skirmish with the drilled out design so I knew right away what I was looking at. That's a great looking knife, no matter how hard I've tried to replace it the original (full-size PE) Manix as stayed in my 3 knife EDC rotation so I'm a big fan of Spyderco.

My next purchase is going to be the new Temperance 2 but now that I've seen the Sage 2 I'm going to have ot add it to my list. You just cost me money...thanks a lot. ;)

You're absolutely right...now I'm embarrassed:p

I can easily see how if you haven't seen the drilled out Titanium scales in person that at first glance the picture could appear to be something other than what it is.

I'm glad that he took it well, I'm thinking that the poor guy goes out and has custom work done (Matt Cuchiarra did an incredible job!) on this great folder and shows it off only to hear that well it looks kinda "feminine". SteelSnob did handled it with a lot of class.

At least now SteelSnob will understand why you said what you did and that it was just a misunderstanding.

Beautiful knife, take care guys!

I thought it was weird that he said it looked feminine but now I understand why he said that. No big deal. Here's more of a close up of it.
