I apologize in advance for how noob this question is, but I would really appreciate it if snody could make a quick video on the hierarchy of steel in use for production and custom knives in the industry.

I constantly see all kinds of steel mentioned from 420 and 440 to aus-8 to San Mai III to 154cm to Damascus and all kinds od variations in between.

Of course I should be using my search feature and doing Dilligent homework to learn what's at the top of the food chain in terms of steel, but I'd really like to here the mans take on things.

So often I hear or read that this steel has better this or that, or edge retention, or resistance to corrosion, and I hear terms thrown around like high carbon steel and while I have basic understanding, I just really would like to know for, the realest knife maker in the game....how some of those steels are inferior or superior.

It would seem a lot of the ones I mentioned are used because they are "production" grade steel and I would like to confirm that the difference in custom knives is not just skill and love...I imagine these custom knives are also made with a higher grade steel.

So as you are all forgiving me and resisting the urge to pounce all over me for having this many knifes without the proper knife to knowledge ratio...I would really appreciate if snody could take a few minutes to touch on this type of education and possibly in another video discuss some of the traditional edge types too.

I have noticed his edges get a lot of special attention in YouTube videos as far the chisel grinds go with the relief on the back side....and I was trying to pick the pimps mind in my on going quest for knowledge.

Further more I just wanted to share an idea I had, I would love to see a snody knife bayonet, I think there is a huge untapped market of AR 15 and Ak lovers and forum members that are into knives and I think there is a vast untapped market of semi blade enthusiasts.....in the history of AR15s people have been having ninja accessory contests since the day the Internet allowed uploaded pics and while simplicity has reigned supreme, you cannot tell me it would not be the most bitchin' move in the history of the world to have a ridiculously custom and scary SNody bayonet on the end of your rifle and I think even if you were only going to produce a few for pictures sake that it could do a lot for spreading the snody name in a similar tight knit community that would in turn make all our knives worth money. Just though I'd share that .

Thanks everyone and please tell me what your thoughts are...kabar teamed up with laserlyte to make pistol bayonets. But how bitchin would custom pieces be and how much respect do you think they would command on the end of a rifle....I have never seen anything custom or sick on the end of a rifle because they have always been super shitty production knives....but seriously how ferocious could a snody piece make an AR or and AK or an SKS or any other bayonet rifle. Think about it....I want something like teeth like the deep veff looking serrations that are on the knives in the gallery at the top of this forum.

I'm getting the chills just thinking about it. Let's make it happen snody I got the cash to back that run. Let's find you some time and get u a vacation lol u deserve it.

Excellent Post...
This is going to be a great subject to explore..
It will take a couple videos just to touch on the surface.
I should have a steel discussion video up tomorrow for you..
Thanks Bro..
Respect..

This new video series is better than Discovery channel programming......the next installment can't get here quick enough. :D

This is better than any knife series, I would pay for this content. Can't wait til Snody has the time to do a video touching on this great steel question. I know it's a very broad and difficult question
