Question for SOG Blink owners

I just received a SOG Blink. I like the knife. Just the size and shape I was looking for. My question has to do with the effort to open it. Did you find that it is very tight to open when you first received yours? Once it gets going it does flick open but it is tough to start.

I am having the same problem with my Twitch XL. Maybe they are tightened this way to help prevent accidental triggering.
I sent mine back to SOG today. I could see grooves being ground into the base of the blade (right above SOG logo) from the tight action. I cannot open it with the thumb studs. Way too hard to do safely.
Hopefully they can fix it but I have a feeling this is part of the design for safety's sake.
The Buck ASAP system works much better. Like butter compared to the knife I sent back. Hope it's fixable.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I will do the same. if you wouldn't mind post back when you get an answer. I was hoping for the same feeling as their Flash or a kershaw Leek.

I've been EDCing a blink for a couple of months now. To answer your question, yes it was stiff as all get out for a couple of weeks. However, as I played with it, and it loosened up it has become much easier to open. Great little knife for the money:thumbup:

I have a Twitch II and it came perfectly smooth. There was no real need to break it in.
Here's a video I made of it the day after I got it.

Nice that almost convinces me to try a lock back again after years of refusing to own a standard lock bar locking knife. Wish i could see the inerd of that knife. Ive yet to find a lock back knive i cant destroy in a few days.

Snapped a uncle henrry lock backs bar right in half had 2 buck 110 and a 112 pivot pin fail for the lock bar (that left me with a nice gash on my palm both times.) Had many cheaper knives with the blade pivoting up dislodging the lock etc.

Basically i want to see how far in to the blade the bar goes when knife is locked what the locking spring is like how much meat there is around the lock pivot how big the pivot is etc.

There alot of things that make the sog blink intrest me other than assisted opening like the pass through lock bar etc. It something that many here will not have seen before (including me)

drop some Militec around the pivot; you should see a dramatic change of the action
