Question for someone familiar with Spyderco's production plan

I have been looking through old posts, mostly about the Chinook, this evening. I have seen it brought up several times updates to certain knives (ambi. tip up/down clip for Chinooks) as well as trainers for knives (Lil' temperance, Chinook...). These posts are from 2 years ago and it was said then that these releases would occur relatively soon (w/in the next 6 mos at the time). Now these releases have not occured, to the best of my knowledge. At the same time Spyderco is coming out with new designs. Has Spyderco given up on these ideas? Are they still on the drawing board? Other reasons for the long delay? Inquiring minds want to know (at least I do). Thanks

Hi One2gofst, Some here might consider you a troubelmaker. Yes, you are correct. Things have been going slower tihe the Chinook than we'd liked. We are still not caught up with sales demand for the current model. We should be caught up next month.

We have a redesign in the works, for the current model. If James Keating approves of the design changes (mostly his ideas), then we'll make the new version. At that time, as smaller version might be a consideration. It's funny that you would bring that up now....I was just thinking today of a smaller Chinook.

No not a troublemaker at all. Actually I like all my Spyderco knives as well as some of the new pieces. I am more curious because I have a Chinook on the way and have fallen in love with the design. Thanks for the info.

A SMALLER Chinook? Hell, NO!!! I want a LARGER one (longer blade), and one that is "Lefty-friendly" (like the Native & Endura)!!!

Will that ever happen???.

Hey One2gofst, I was only kiddin' about the "troublemaker" part. "Troublemakers" on the Spyderco forum is more a term used for people that ask questions that might have deep and long threads.

Carlos is a "Troublemaker".

Dang...I hope that I'm a troublemaker, Sal!.:D.

Now, how about that "Lefty-friendly" Chinook???.:).

(And I know that I must sound like a "broken record", but I'd really LOVE to have a "Lefty" Chinook, or maybe even have Spyderco "convert" one of the pair that I have...Dreamin', and ramblin' again; Sorry...).
...But my birthday is coming-up later this month.;).
