Question for Spark and/or Mike

I have been unable to get on the forums for almost twenty-four hours. I know that a lot of other folks in various places have had the same trouble. There is even a thread at KFC about BFC being down. But it seems that some people have been able to get here, and to post.

I even looked up the DNS number at BFC at tried that. It did not work. I was surprised that the 1SKS site was up a running fine. I thought BFC and 1SKS were hosted by the same server.

So what was the problem? Is it likely to happen again? Curious minds want to know.

I'm having the same problem and have just spent 2 hours looking for a fault on my PC. I can't get in with my main ISP bt.com, but get in fine with Freeserve.co.uk. Message is always "can't find the server". It's a major pain, obviously something is up at your end.

FWIW, I've had no problem connecting via cable modem from NYC.

No problem at home (cable modem). Big problem with a proxy server at work.

I was on BF's last night when Para IM'd me that he couldn't get on. I told him it was running real slow, but I was on. Then on Chat guys were also complaining they couldn't get on also. I left BF's to look at another site and then I couldn't get back on.

For me right now BF's is still running real slow. Gee, you would think for the kind of money Mike&Spark charge us they could make it run better, maybe supply us all DSL?

Big problem for me in Columbus, OH with my cable hook up. Also had a problem at work. I got in once tonight going through 1SKS, but it wouldn't let me do anything. This is the first time I've gotten through and been able to do anything in the past 24hrs. I was feeling so lost without being able to check in. OK, not quite that bad.
 
I could not get on all day and KFC had a banner all day saying they were down for updates so I could not tell if it was me or not.... Glad to hear I was not THAT far gone...

Just got in after two days of trying. Kept coming up "bladeforums.com is unknown". It's been hell.

No kidding!
I've actually had to WORK at work, rather than surf BF. No other option.
Seriously, I've been unable to access it from work until about five minutes ago for the past two days. T1 connection with a firewall. Firewall error every time. Home with a dial-up via Earthlink had no problems.
Glad it's working now.

Sure have been having problems getting on bladeforums from home. I hope that what Mike said is right and I will be able to get my fix when I go home.
It is strange that I have had no prolems from work, other than when i first tried to post on this thread I was told that no one by the name of Keith Montgomery was registered on the forum. I was thinking that this was part of the Microsoft screw up, but after going to my profile, and seeing that I was infact registered, everything has been fine.
I am sure that Mike and Spark have been working their butts off to get this mess straightened out, and I sure do hope this doesn't happen again.

Since this site has come back it has taken a long time to load topics, make replies or do just about anything on this forum. Any idea as to why?

I am still having problems getting in BFC. I can access it fine during the day, but around 8 Central time, I can never get in. My browser finds the site, but it just hangs. Any ideas?

same here, still having problems. At work, no problems accessing the site but in the evenings on my machine, it doesn't even find the site at all. As of last night, I still am not able to access it from home, it has been like this for the past 3 nights or so and counting...
