I took my e1e apart to change the battery , and when i went to clean the threads " on the twist on-off" some black grease came off, was that grease on the threads and do the threads need to be greased? thanks for the replys

You probly wont be able to find NyoGel.Try a scuba shop for silicone lube.

I have used petroleum jelly for that for almost 10 years now, with no ill effects. The function is to keep the O rings moist and the compartment water tight. PJ was initially recommeded by a surefire rep 10+ years ago.

pat

petroleum jelly is not to be used on flashlight o rings exept mags.petroleum jelly will breakdown the o ring.

O rings are rubber, right?
So can we use KY Jelly? I mean, its meant for other rubber prophylactics afterall...

I use Silchem silicone lubricant on my Surefires. I got a 8 ounce tube that will probably last the rest of my life, since I only use a small amount as needed, and that's not very often.
I will try to find the website I ordered it from-the guy participates on the Spyderco forum, I just can't remember his name right now.
found it: http://www.johnfjensen.com/sil-cart.html
