Going through my military gear, I found my trusty Automat Kalashnikov 101 (KnifeCenter's image, but the same model...)
101.jpg

With a few minor differences...
1. The Boker Plus logo isn't on the tang as shown; it's right where the Pohl Design mark is (in the photo). On my knife, there is no Pohl Design marking.
2. My knife uses a four-hole spanner adjustment for the blade pivot pin, while the one in the photo doesn't show any adjustment point. Also, the pivot pin is shown as black with a white star; mine is bead-blasted stainless with a black star and the Kalashnikov signage.
3. As shown, the knife has black handle screws; mine has stainless ones.
4. The glass breaker is stainless in the photo; mine is black.

All of this is probably very trivial, but I'm trying to show my knife (but I can't since my camera is broken) as opposed to a prototype photo or older model photo. On the flip side of the blade, 440C is lasered into the tang, and 2373 (a serial number I'm guessing) is lasered right in front of the thumb disk. There's no country of origin marking, either on the knife or on the box. However, I know the 101s are all made in Taiwan. So, here's my question:

From what I understand country of origin is required for all imported items sold in the United States (where I obtained mine). But country of origin is not required for European-sold items, hence the US-distributed 101s would have the Taiwan marking and the European-distributed ones wouldn't. So why doesn't my bought-in-the-US knife have any Taiwan markings? Did it get mixed up in a batch of European knives? I guess it isn't a big deal (they're all the same) but I'm curious if this one slipped through or what. Thanks for any help

Hello J,
I don't know for sure on the country of origin marks, but my guess would be it was from a shipment we received from Germany to fill orders until our shipment arrived from the factory, or the factory in Taiwan shipped us the wrong ones.
