Whats the deal with the Sus Scrofa? Is it underappreciated or just unliked? It looks like it would be a good cutter with the drawback in my case of sharpening that reverse curve. Just curious.

In no way and by no means am I an expert, but I will offer my thoughts. :)

I think the Sus is kinda like the SR mini mojo in some ways... The recurve styled blade kinda turns some away as in it is usually more difficult to sharpen. I would love to have one, but i like a more traditional styled knife. Nevertheless, the Sus is a great knife! :) Hope that helps. Hopefully someone with more expertise can chime in. ;)

I am no expert but I think that the SS is one of those designs where the folks who know how to use and prefer that blade shape would not trade it for anything else. For most people the wharnie/sheepsfoot is a little different than what they are normally use to. I personally find the wharnie type blades most useful for my edc chores.

Seems like a Sharpmaker would work really well on that blade.

At first I didn't care for the looks of them but they are growing on me. Especially the black crinkle with black and orange slabs, those are way cool. Looks like a great blade for work with rope, paracord, etc.

The sus scrofa is my favorite blade. I personally own 2 and am holding my breath for that 3rd one! I really want one with the black & blue G10 slabs. I know there are some people out there with more than 2 sus scrofas, but considering I only own 7 knives..... :D

Thanks for the responses. I lean more toward the smaller slicers and cutters moreso than the choppers, just my preference.

I like the Sus Scrofa as well. It might not be as popular, but it looks like it has a good following. :)

the more i read this thread and stare at them on the BC site, the more Im thinking about taking the plunge! :)

I'm certainly in an agreeable mood this morning. :)

The SS is just plain under-appreciated. If you are (or were) a sailor, climber, or caver ... or several varieties of tradesman ... you know how valuable the blade shape is.

I didn't get my usual ton, and I felt compelled to let one go recently, but I'll always have a few around. It's that useful.

I know those life insurance salesmen have a huuuuugge list of various activities one can participate in and how they affect life expectancy and your premium price.....I wonder what being a Hog does...or would do if the Insurance people knew what it meant to be a Hog. Any thoughts?

As far as the Sus Scrofa goes.....some people just don't roll with the sheepsfoot blade shape. Those who do, love the Sus Scrofa and wouldn't trade it for anything, those who don't, hate the Sus Scrofa, and wouldn't trade anything for one. There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground on this one.

The more I look at the knife, the more I'm thinking about picking up an LE for my satin/tiger collection and turning it into a user. It would be my first Busse with an EDC handle. I guess we'll see...
