Question for the sharp people

I heard that you can get real sharp edge with cotton wheel with buffing compound on a regular home bench grinder...TRUE or...
 
true, and a cardboard wheel as well. just takes practice and puts a fairly polished edge on.
 
Be sure to hold on firmly; edge shold be down the direction of the wheel. The buffer is the most dangerous piece of equipment in the shop. Sewn wheels with paint on buffing compount are very economical for bulk sharpening. These paint on compounds with remove metal fairly easily. There is a lot of airborne fiber in this operation, wear a dust mask...Take Care...Ed
