I have 2 stainless mora clippers...I love the way they feel in the hand and they are just the right size for me....I'm thinking about making my the clipper my "Main squeeze" when it comes to gen field use... So far I haven't used it for anything too demanding...Mostly cutting cord and food prep...But I am curious as to how well the edge holds up... and how it responds to touch up maintenace (stropping, ceramic rod) and if it is difficult to sharpen if it is pushed beyond the point of touch up...any info. based on your experience is welcome. Thanks

If I am using the blade a lot during the day, I will strop occassionally to keep the edge up. If not, I will strop it at the end of the day and it easily brings the edge back.

I personally sharpen mine in a Spyderco Sharpmaker, believe it or not. I find that at the end of a day of periodic use about 3-4 strokes on each side on the Sharpmaker bring it back to shaving sharp. I only use the corners of my white stones for my Moras, and that's all I ever need. I will occasionally subject my Moras to some fairly hard work, such as roughing out a 6 foot bow stave or splitting a decent amount of firewood, but I have never been able to get them to the point where 3-4 strokes on the sharpmaker won't make them shave.

For the record, I am referring to the stainless Frost's Mora 760.

Fonly How did it chip??What was the circumstance? Keep the stainless mora thoughts and evals coming guys...Thabks

Hey Guys...

RR...

I wreck the edge of my Moras All the time with an exacto knife, while I make sheaths for them,, and they always sharpen right up like razor blades..

No problem what so ever....

Speaking of making sheaths for Moras, Eric from O/ST (the poster above me) makes some VERY nice Kydex Mora sheaths that I highly recommend as a replacement for the originals.

Yup, here's a couple of his excellent sheaths.

would all of you trust a stainless mora as your mid size camp knife???? Those sheaths are real nice....I currently have one for my clipper that a friend made for me. but I've veisited O/S tacticals site several times and am impressed with thier products I'll probably use there services in the future.

Hey Guys..

Thanks Longbow...

RR...

Ohh ya,, for sure,, Absolutely...

As long as you don't go past the knife's limitations,, it is a fantstic mis size camping knife..

As a matter of fact,, Dare I say maybe the perfect mid sized camping knife...
Just use it what it's designed to do and you won't have a problem at all...

Hey GUys..

RR...

Alot of people,, as I was, are put off by the price of them.
Afterall,, what can you get for $10-30 right ?

Until they try one....

If it's treated properly for a knife it's size and thickness, it should do everything that it is suppose to..

No matter how you look at it,, pound for pound, dollar for dollar,, it's one of the best knives of it's size out there...

I was a little nervous when I ordered mine too, RescueRiley. I just couldn't imagine something so cheap actually performing like I'd want/need. But now my 510 is one of my favorite knives. I'm borderline obsessed with it and am rarely without it anymore. They're just so darn handy and effective. They sharpen up easily and well.

The very tip, and a section just above the handle, but it sharpend out easily enough.

Ohh, and we had a weird ice build up around a couple windows, so I used it as it was small and sturdy to get it out.

My Erickson stainless is my main kitchen knife now, this thing cuts like a razor blade and has from day one, still factory edge. I used it to pry apart a bunch of frozen chicken breasts, and it was more then up tp the challenge.
Someday I may get to take it out to the wilderness and really see what it can do.

I put my Mora's to the test on just about everything around the house. The 760 was used today to shave a bit off of a peg, so it would fit it's assigned hole in a build it yourself microwave stand and again when I laid the blade, spine down against some wire studs on the same stand, to straighten them so I could fix the broken drawer front.
