Greetings Thomas,

I could not find an email for you so I figured I would start this thread. I bought a Kershaw Crown (3160) at wal-mart a few weeks back. I gifted it to my brother because he wanted a pocket knife (hardly shows an interest in knives like me)...and unfortunately the pocket clip broke. I contacted Kershaw and they told me they did not stock parts for this model and I would have to send it in. Should I send it in for a pocket clip replacement or is there maybe another pocket clip that would work on it? Or should I just buy him another one (they are only 10$). I love Kershaw products (carry a Leek almost every day) so you will hear absolutely no complaints from me like some others on here. I will always remain a loyal Kershaw customer no matter what happens. A 75$ knife could break just as easy as the $10 one and I can tell Kershaw treats all knives the same no matter what they cost. Anyhow, if you could respond to this post I'd greatly appreciate it or you can email me by clicking my username above.

Thanks for your time.

Bedore,

While I am not Thomas, maybe I can try to help you with some info. When Kershaw says that they don't stock parts for the model, that means that they would just replace the knife if you sent the knife in. As far as I know, there are no other Kershaw models that carry this pocket-clip pattern.

:)

I believe Kershaw only has the parts for USA made models. I made the mistake of buying a Volt 2, not that it is a bad knife, but I had to get it warrantied for a broken torsion bar so I had to mail it in and have them replace it since it was a China made model. It took several weeks, and they gave me a brand new knife, but I think I would have rather kept the old one and gotten just a new bar. That way I don't have to wait a long time for it to be fixed, even if I am getting a new knife. It also costs a few bucks to mail it, which in reality isn't a lot, but if you are talking about spending $3-4 on shipping a knife back that costs only $10, it is kind of silly.

It may be even easier to just bring it back to WalMart. If the rest of the knife is still in relatively good condition, you should be able to exchange it for another. My wife worked at the customer service desk years ago and she says they can be pretty lenient with exchanges.

I admit, I never thought to bring it back to wal-mart. Might just do that! Thanks all.
