Question for those that own both a 2 and a 20

just went to the truck to get my 2 and check it, and the answer is no. The 20 full length swedge makes it a slightly thinner tip, while the 2 with a traditional saber grind means it is a quarter inch spine until a bit less than an inch from the tip.

The swedge hides the thickness a bit, and it is thicker below the swedge, but the 2's saber grind makes it pretty beefy and the 20 just doesn't compare.

Thanks for the replies (and the pictures, Tobiism). I appreciate it. I was out yesterday with my buddy Phil and we were prying out some fatwood. I would have liked to have either my 3 or my 2 but had neither and I was wondering how tough the 20 would be by comparison.

If you're going to be doing stuff like that and want a 9+" blade, Ontario has a few you might want to look at. The SP8 would be great for prying apart logs and the SP51 looks like it might be pretty close to what a 9.5" BK2 would be. The Condor Rodan, Varan, Kumunga are all just different lengths of the same knife and have pretty stout tips (and are inexpensive if you manage to break it.) Or the JAB Poteblly has a pretty stout tip on it If you don't mind the 7" blade length.

The tip on the 20 isn't as thick as the 2 but I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to put it to work prying at lighter knot. It's plenty strong enough to get the job done. 1095 is stout. I've used 3/16 on fatwood with no issues. Beckers are tough blades.

Thanks guys. I'll check them out. What I'm really waiting for is a BK-2 with an 8" blade and I'm patient.

Now that I finally have a 2 I totally agree. An 8 or 10 inch 2 would be a dream blade.
Personally, I want a 10 incher.

The BK20 is supposed to be a limited release, maybe afterwards they will reboot the 20 under a new number? Maybe A 20 with a different number and without the swedge, that way they can say its a different knife (nudge nudge wink wink), i honestly don't think anybody would complain about that. That would totally work for me as i love the design but can't afford a 20 right now, lol.

While a 10 inch could be nice, an 8" would fit in a pack easier and would still be an awesome chopper and it seems to be an ignored length by a lot of manufacturers.
