I'm new to the site and did do a search with no luck. Could someone tell me how much the flipper projects out the back with the blade in the closed position on the 3½ and 4" blades? I think I've fallen in love with this knife but I work with thick gloves and worry that it may or may not be a issue. Thanks in advance for your time.

I mic'd mine at about 3/8" for the 4" and 1/4" for the 3.5"

Ty to both of you. That should be enough to open with gloves. Now just to get in line for one lol.

You may find it reassuring that the "XM" (designed by Rick) was indeed designed as a Hard Use Knife for use while wearing heavy gloves (Fireman's gloves) as part of their compliment of turnout gear.
So, I think you will find the "flipper" a handy deployment method and as mentioned the XM 24 (4") may be a good choice but the XM 18 (3.5") is great as well for all around use.
Enjoy

Flipper not only works w/ gloved hands but can be dileberatly caught on gear/ pockets, etc. to start the blade open, then complete w/ studs or a quick flicking motion.

My XM 24 works very well with work gloves on, this knife transitioned from tac vest on SWAT to chores on farm without missing a beat.

Ty for the info and torturing me with a pic. ;) nice knife

A word of advice: don't hold your breath while looking for a Ti front scale like that, you'll turn very blue. I think the most direct way to get one is find someone who already has one and offer to trade them a car or a house for it :)

Not a joke...

Didn't think I was. As hard as it is just to find a knife. I have no doubt i would have a better chance of getting a picture of Sasquatch

See, the real hardcore folks are the ones that get the picture of Sasquatch using his Ti handled DLC coated XM-18.

I'd really like to have an FDE DLC textured Ti scale. So much so that I'd fight Sasquatch for it.
