Ethan I couldn't find my answer with Google, so I thought I'd come directly to the source. Did your original BK7 design have a sharpened swedge? Given the title "combat utility knife" I wondered if you followed in the tradition of the other great 7" combat utility knife, the USMC Ka-Bar. I realize the BK7 isn't exactly a clip point like the USMC, but having lots of sharp edges pointed at the enemy seems wise on paper at least. ;)

A sharp swedge is fairly counter-productive to us civilian woods bums who want to baton wood, but for bringing democracy to foreign lands, maybe it has it's place?

Hey 52100......

The BK-7 was actually designed as a modernised replacement for the venerable KaBar Marine combat knife......In a lot of jurisdictions a sharpened swedge can be quite illegal......Soooooo ya gotta sharpen it yourself.......The only Becker that came standard with a sharpened swedge was the BK-9HH, the hog hunter's version.......Pretty limited numbers, I have been given to believe.......

All Best.....

Ethan

Thank you for the reply sir. I noticed that even current copies of the USMC knife no longer have a sharpened clip either.
