Question for video experts

Good Saturday morning to most of you . How long will it be before we have virtual home theater ? I,m not talking about "a la Matrix" , just a good quality
headset sized virtual theater available to . It really doesn,t have to be a headset and I don,t want to delve into how "interactive" we would have to become to see in 3D so lets just keep it at virtual 3D level . To keep this in the range of the possible could we keep this zombifying machine below the $2000 range ?
So ? Hows about it ? Just for fun you can tell us about the $50,000 + system already being produced .

James Cameron has a movie or two in development which he claims will be filmed so as to take advantage of the '3D digital projectors' he expects movie theatres to start introducing in the next two or three years....
