Question for ya Buckheads, 186 with box and papers?

I'm just tryin' to put a value on an old 80s #186 Ti model, it's not mint but it does have the box and original papers, hopefully one of my Buck Brothers can help me out here, I know they only made the take down model for 2 years.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, condition is obviously everything. A mint specimen in box with papers has sold for as high as $450 plus on ebay within the past few months, but I personally think that is probably an exception; however, most mint ones with boxes/papers most likely will sell in the $300-$350 range, at least on ebay. So hopefully, you can substract what is not mint about your knife and get some rough idea as to its worth.

I carried mine but I kept all the paperwork and box, I remeber emailin' Buck a long time ago as to why they stopped makin' 'em and one of the Buck family members answered by sayin' too many people would take 'em apart and couldn' put 'em back together again and then mail the pieces to Buck and expect them to rebuild it for free.

Easy solution, rivet 'em.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm hangin' onto this guy, I remember readin' about it in a Guns Digest Knife Edition and I had to have one, it took me nearly a year to track one down and I found one at a Hoffritz out on the west coast, I had 'em ship to a store back east.

I still take it out occasionally and carry for light duty chores but I don't think I'm ready to give up a piece of cutlery history, one of the first production Titanium knives made, one of the first production folders to have a built in belt clip, also one of the first production knives that could be taken down.

Awful lot of firsts for a production knife wouldn't ya say?;)

I think I'll keep this one as a favorite with sentimental value.:D

Yep, and that's exactly what Buck did; it's called the Model 560!! ;)

Too bad they wont bring back the 186, but then the value of them will drop. I would love to have one, but everyone I have seen (even with rust on them, and beat up) sell for over $200.
