Yablanowitz,

I know you are a big fan of the S90V, question is how does the M4 stack up to S90V?

Judging by the Mule Team knives, I'd say it has quite a bit less wear resistance than S90V when used on hard/abrasive materials. It stands up great for what most folks would call normal use, and it is easier to sharpen, but it doesn't handle demolition work as well. My beater S90V Millie is getting pretty worn, and I was considering a blade swap to both restore it and put the M4 Millie on a much needed diet, but I just couldn't bring myself to give up all those v anadium carbides.

good info! I guess for my knife cutting tasks, the M4 will do. I have most of the versions except the S90V, I could kick myself for not getting it!

I think that does, and doesn't, surprise me. Spyderco does a good heat-treat on CPM-M4, which is made for cutting other metals. On the other hand, I was thinking, and you said it in the last line of your post, S90V has all those carbides. Not all of us use knives for the stuff you do, though. :) :D

If it makes you feel better, most of the cutting competitors currently favor M4, I believe. ;)

Yabs is the go to guy for information on Spyderco Military knives. I've already bugged him twice and he was able to answer my questions. Thanks Jack!
